MINUTES OF 1999 MEETINGS

December 1999

Chapters One and Two of the Society of Broadcast Engineers held a combined meeting at St Thomas Hall at the University of Scranton on December 13, 1999. Vice-Chairman Joe Glynn brought the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Secretary Jon Koons read the minutes of the previous meeting and Treasurer Mark Rutkowski gave the Treasurer’s report. Mark indicated that the previous balance in Guaranty was $837.11. Expenses for this period were $31.01 with ad and other income totaling $430 leaving a balance of $1236.10. Minutes and Treasure’s report were accepted as read. There was no old business. Under new business it was decided to send out a questionnaire to the membership concerning the desired frequency of meetings and the best time of day to hold the meetings. It was also decided to retain the present officers and board of directors since no one expressed an interest in being nominated for an officers position. There being no further business, Vice-Chairman Glynn brought the business portion of the meeting to a close at 7:50 PM.

The "program" for the evening was a buffet style dinner enjoyed by members from both Chapter One and Two of the Society of Broadcast Engineers.


September 1999

Chapter Two of the Society of Broadcast Engineers held a meeting at the Advanced Technology Center of Luzerne County Community College on September 13, 1999. Vice-Chairman Glynn brought the meeting to order at 7:40 PM. Mark Rutkowski read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the Treasurer's report. Mark indicated that the previous balance in Guaranty was $748.75. Expenses this period were $11.64 with income of $100.00 leaving a balance of $837.11. Minutes and treasure's report were accepted as read.

There was no old business. Under new business, it was decided to hold the annual Christmas meeting/party at U of S. on 12/13/99 at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Glynn then presented our speakers for the evening's presentation. Len Donavan and Jose Rosado explained the Ikegami edit Cam models DNS-11 DNS-101. These cameras feature a removable hard drive as the recording media. Jose included a dramatic demonstration of the hard drive's ruggedness by purposefully dropping one on the floor. This impressive camera features an on board nonlinear editor. Jose outlined and demonstrated the editCam's revolutionary capabilities. Vice-Chairman Glynn adjourned the meeting at 8:20 PM.


May 1999

Chapter two of the Society of Broadcast Engineers scheduled a meeting at the Studios of WNEP-TV on May 12, 1999. The meeting was not called to order due to a lack of a quorum of official members.


March 1999

Chapter two of the Society of Broadcast Engineers held a meeting at the Studios of WVIA-TV and FM March 1, 1999. Chairman Schacht brought the meeting to order at 7:50 PM and asked Secretary Jon Koons to read the minutes from the previous meeting. Treasurer Mark Rutkowski gave the financial report. He indicated that expenses for this period were $33.00 for postage with no income leaving a balance of $492.35. Also, in order to eliminate monthly fees, a new account has been opened with Guaranty bank and the old account with M&T has been closed. The current balance with M&T is zero and with Guaranty $492.35

With the business portion of the meeting concluded Ron introduced the speaker for the evening Mr. Guy DuBoice, PE, Engineering Manager of Research and Applications, Commonwealth Telephone Co. Guy discussed the various types of services available including ISDN, digital subscriber loop (DSL)and local and full number portability.

Chairman Schacht adjourned the meeting at 8:50 PM.
